
1867-2009

1867 Charles Warren, under the auspices of the Palestine Exploration Fund, conducts explorations and excavations on and under the Temple Mount. While his goal was not to recover Temple treasure, his excvation records are an important source of information for present day researchers. Later, in 1981, Rabbis Goren and Getz rediscover Warren's Gate and use it as an access point to excavate for the Ark.
1906 Finnish mystic Valter Juvelius claims to know the precise location of the Ark in relation to the Temple Mount.
1909 Capt.Montague Parker, based on Juvelius' ideas, heads a British excavation team that sets out to recover the Ark. His clandestine excavations under the Dome of the Rock discover early Bronze-age tombs, but he is interrupted by the Muslim authorities and never completes his search.
1927 Antonia T. Futterer claims he discovered a secret passageway under Mount Nebo in Jordan that supposedly leads to the cave of the hidden Ark. He is never able to realise funds to conduct a full scale search
1929 Dr.Haba Katool Shepardic Rabbi of the Royal Priesthood of Israel as a boy was given by word of mouth and instructions where the Ark had been in Moab and actually went to the location at El Musshaqqar in Jordan at Mount Nebo to locate the the cave of the Ark treasure.
1937 Dr.J.A.Kinnemon visited Ethiopia and with cooperation of Emperor Hallie Sallise was given permission to see and make drawings and measurements of the Ark of Menelik claimed by Graham Hancock to be the real Ark.
1952 The Copper Scroll is discovered in Cave III above the Wadi Jafet Zaben, north to the Qumran settlement. The Aramaic text descricbed 64 separate hiding places of treasure connected to the Jerusalem Temple. The original copy is now in the Citadel Museum in Amman, Jordan. This document has become the "treasure map" of those searching for Temple treasure and the Ark in the Dead Sea region.
1967 Rabbi Shlomo Goren presides over the Temple Mount and sends out a corps of Israeli army engineers to map the sacred area. Based on this information, Rabbi Goren believes he can identify the site of the Holy of Holies, under which he believes lies the Ark in a subterranean chamber.
1968 Vendyl Jones begins his search for the ashes of the red heifer and the lost Ark at the Wadi Jafet Zaben. He also believes he has located the "Cave of the Column" supposedly indicated in the Copper Scroll. Accompanied initially by archaeologist Dr. Pesach Bar-Adon, and encouraged by Rabbi Shlomo Goren, he claims the his finds will contribute to the future rebuilding of the Temple
1976 Oren Patrick Purcell, Archaeologist on March 17, 1976 completed the work of Dr. Haba Katool when he arrived at Mount Nebo and with the Geometrics and Gematria developed for the mapping process. This led him to the location of the sodded up wall in the cave ( just as the description was given to him ). After digging most of the night thru a sodded wall he came thru this short tunnel into this musty dry room to find the Ark of the Covenant, The seal skin veil in front of it neatly folded, along also with four Urns of family items from Solomon's Temple.
1977 Larry Blaser secrues an excavation permit from the Israeli Antiquities Authority to dig for the Ark within a sealed cave located in the cliffs of Ein-Gedi, which overlook the Dead Sea. The cave proves to be a naturally sealed structure, ending the possibility of a manmade object being contained within.
1979 Oren Patrick Purcell Archaeologist travelled to Tara, Ireland to verify the "Twin Treasure" of the Ark to verify the land Grants that had been buried in Barrow beside Tamar-Tephi king Zedkiah's Daughter brought to to Tarshish (ireland) Jeremiah and his Scribe Baruch. The Seal of David was present on her Barrow as it was in tha Cave of the ark on the Sodded up wall.
1981 Harrison Ford as professor "Indiana Jones" Paramount Pictures releases the fantasy film "Raiders of the Lost Ark" in movie theaters around the world. Overnight, a new public interest in the search for the Ark is generated.
1982 Rabbis Shlomo Goren and Yehuda Getz rediscover the Warren Gate entrance and begin a highly secretive year and a half excavation under the Temple Mount in the direction of the Holy of Holies, based on Rabbi Goren's 1967 survey. While the excavation was discovered and stopped by the Muslim and Israeli authorities, the rabbis believe they know exactly where the Ark lies buried beneathe the Mount.
1981 Tom Crotser claims to have discovered the Ark under Mount Pisgah, in Jordan, using the map originally made by A. T. Futterer. Although he shows a slide of a metal object, professional analysis of the object contends that it is of modern origin.
1982 Ron Wyatt claims to have discovered the Ark within a stone case, along with the table of showbread, inside a cavern in Jerusalem at a site identified by General Gordon as Mount Calvary.
1988 The Temple Institute, founded by Rabbi Yisrael Ariel, opens in the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem's Old City. One of its purposes is to restore the vessels of the Temple in preparation for the rebuilding of the Third Temple. Some of the completed or projected items include the Temple menorah, the table of showbread, the altar of incense, the silver trumpets, the breastplate and golden crown of the high priest, and the stone vessels for the red heifer purification process. The institute says there is no need to make another Ark, since the original is only meters away under the Temple Mount.

1992 Journalist Graham Hancock published a large volume on the search for the Ark, called "The Sign and Seal" advancing the theory that it is hidden in the lowest level of the Church of Saint Mary of Zion in Axum, Ethiopia.
1992 Professors Zvi ben-Avraham and Uri Basson of Tel-Aviv University's Department of Geophysics and Planetary Sciences release a report of the geophysical investigation of the Qumran plateau using ground penetrating radar and siesmic reflection profiles. A separate report by Dr. Gary Collett and Aubrey Richardson claims that this site is the Wadi Ha-Kippah of the Copper Scroll and that their research reveals the presence of possible Temple treasure.
1992 Vendyl Jones reasserts his claim that he is on the trail of the Ark as he discovers 900 pounds of a reddish substance he identifies as the Temple incense. An earlier discovery near his site, a juglet of "annointing oil", is claimed by Jones to connect his cave with the Copper Scroll's Temple treasure.
1993 The Temple Institute in Jerusalem displays Israeli craftsman Chaim Odem's model of the Ark in its newly refurbished visitor's center. Lecturers for the Institute explain to audiences that according to traditional Jewish sources, the Ark is under the Temple Mount and has been located by Rabbis Goren and Getz
1993 The Israeli Antiquities Authority, under Dr. Amir Drori, launch "Operation Scroll", a massive search and retrieval operation in caves along the Dead Sea. They employ over 200 archaeologists and even use backhoes to locate artifacts in light of the September 13, 1993, signing of the Declaration of Principles between the PLO and Israel. Escavations at Dr. Collett's site confirm the presence of stone lined storage bins. The full results of these excations have not yet been revealed.
1994 Dr.Gershon Salomon, founder and director of the Temple Mount and Land of Israel faithful, announces on national television (in the United States) that he believes the Third Temple and the Ark of the Covenant will be seen by the world within his lifetime.
1994 National Geographic Explorer series airs program entitled "The Search for the Lost Ark". Sites in Ethiopia and Qumran are featured.
1994 Vendyl Jones renews his excavations at the Wadi Jaffet Zaben, claiming that "new discoveries" will be uncovered.
1994 Dr. James Strange Archaeologist, in conjunction with Dr. Gary Collett and Aubrey Richardson pursue the excavation of the Qumran plateau in hopes of locating anomalies that may have Temple treasureswithin them.
1999 Bruce Burgess using present name Jah Is claiming many things and he pretends to know about, all the things of the Ark being at Tara Ireland but when he researches his information it has already been known many, many years earlier. He won;t find the Ark at Tara.
2000 Vendyl Jones continues to Excavate at Qumran but is in Danger of losing his digging permits due to outbreak of Palestinian Israeli war which has quieted down Now and he is planning more action in 2008.
2008 Jerry Shapiro is still in his field of Interest of searching for the ark he was involved with Vendyl Jones for a While and then he spent much time going thru the Wadis in and around Mount Nebo.
